Noël Coward’s sublime comedy of manners, in which two married women consider dallying with the same former lover
Story:
Two upper-class wives, their husbands away for the day, share a few toasts to their pre-marital dalliances—with the same man, who just may be en route from France to visit. Old rivalries and past scandals bubble to the surface in this intoxicating romp from one of theatre’s comedy masters.
Fun Fact
For its initial production in the UK, an official in the Lord Chamberlain's office recommended that a licence should be refused on the grounds that the loose morals of the two main female characters "would cause too great a scandal," but the Lord Chamberlain overruled him, saying "the whole thing is so much unreal farcical comedy" it would be allowed.
