by Edward Albee
The pulitzer-prize award-winning family drama by Edward Albee.
Story:
A Delicate Balance follows Agnes and Tobias, a long-married couple who must maintain their equilibrium as over the course of a weekend they welcome home their 36-year-old daughter following the collapse of her fourth marriage. They must also give shelter to their friends, all the while tolerating Agnes’ alcoholic sister Claire.
According to Albee, the play “has to do with [the] social and political structure that I grew up around, unfortunately, and left as soon as I could. But it’s also about what they’re all about. People lying to themselves. About who they are, how they view themselves, yes, the whole thing. Our inability to be objective about ourselves.” The Telegraph by Tim Martin
