About the Play
Thornton Wilder's Pulitzer Prize winning play best known for its minimalism and metatheatricality.
Story:
Meet the good citizens of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, circa 1901. An omniscient Stage Manager describes this small New England town and introduces its residents, including the Gibbs and Webb families, who live next door to each other. In three acts, audiences witness a day in the life of Grover’s Corners, celebrate the marriage of Emily Webb and George Gibbs, and hear the reflections of those who have died.
Fun Fact
For two weeks in its original 1938 run on Broadway, Thornton Wilder played the role of the Stage Manager.
