The Motherf**ker With the Hat examines the relationship of a longtime couple that is put to the test when one emerges from prison clean and sober and the other remains hooked on drugs and alcohol.
Story:
Newly released from prison and struggling to remain sober, Jackie has reunited with his longtime girlfriend, a crack-smoking live wire named Veronica. Jackie leans on his addiction sponsor, Ralph D., who is married to Victoria, a resentful woman he met in AA. Also in the mix is Jackie’s cousin Julio, a salon owner with a flamboyant streak. Over the course of the play, it becomes clear that Ralph D. may not be as loyal a friend as Jackie believes. What does the future hold for this motley crew of contemporary New Yorkers? And what’s up with the title character?
